It was a huge, colossal failure. I was a huge, colossal failure. It was the kind of failure that could end a career before it got started. Not only did the failure hurt deeply, but it was also necessary to stand before the powers that be for a discussion of that very failure. They would decide the next step; it was out of my hands. I could barely breathe, but I couldn't delay making that phone call to let them know all about it.
I picked up the phone and began with "I failed....."
She answered, "How are you doing?"
There were still problems to be resolved. There was more for me to learn. There were consequences to be realized. But I had heard the voice of grace, and I have never forgotten it.
Yes, faith is personal. It is the personal invitation from our Lord Jesus Christ to come to the waters of eternal life and drink. It is a personal invitation to come to the table and be fed. It is a personal word in both the cracks and celebrations which are uniquely ours. It is a word of grace for the very personal sin that wounds us.
Jesus comes to each of us in our own particular lives and makes himself known. When did Jesus show up in your life?
