got bread?

Perhaps you are familiar with the story of the two disciples who are on the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus.  This was the first Easter morning.  The day the women found the tomb empty while some reported seeing the risen Jesus.

Remember?  The stranger was Jesus but they couldn't see him.  They didn't recognize him.  Not a hint.  But he sure knew all the Hebrew scriptures.  He could draw all the connections between the old texts and the story of Jesus.  When he was done talking they understood the story in a whole new way.  So they asked him to stay for dinner.

There we have it folks.  A story with Jesus at the center, which talks about the wondrous gift of love that is the resurrection, in a community of 3 who gather around some bread and wine.  Jesus broke the bread and vanished......and a community of faith was born from 2 flabbergasted disciples.

They ran back to Jerusalem filled with bread and resurrection.  They had a story to share.  They had Jesus to share.

We gather around bread and wine, with Jesus in the center pouring out a love and grace that take our breath away.  We have Jesus to share.

Got bread?
